I've tried a couple of the different AI art applications that take a bunch of photos of your face and then generate a model of your face and then render it out in different styles etc, cause I'm forever curious about how I'm seen by different parts of the world, and I haven't liked any of the outputs from any of them. Why not? They all make me look more cis. And not just more passing but more cis in ways that are not my face, in ways that lack the battle scars left by testosterone that say "I fought for my womanhood and I continue to fight for it every day." Who is this girl these machines imagine? With her softer, rounder, prettier features? She's not me.

Another belated #ScreenshotSaturday for #ProjectWeirdLittleGuy this time just showing off the updated Belly system inspired by Valheim's food system. Current food bonuses are now shown on the far right side of the inventory bar.
This is an answer to a stupid problem that I have sometimes when my internet goes out. There has been no obvious way for me to know that the internet has come back on other than to keep refreshing my browser until a web page loads, and that's an annoying thing to occupy my attention.
It's an internet status monitor. It attempts to ping a website, in this case Google because Google is pretty reliably online. If it successfully pings Google (indicating that the internet is up), its eyes glow green. If it cannot ping Google (indicating that the internet is down), its eyes glow red.
While it is booting up and attempting to connect to the internet in the first place, its eyes glow yellow.
This is what it looks like when the internet goes down. In this case I left my router on but unplugged the power to the modem.
Why is it a skull? Because a little box with a red light and a green light would have been boring

It's actually bad luck to say MacBook inside an office. You have to call it 'the Scottish Laptop'
This week's #ProjectWeirdLittleGuy #ScreenshotSaturday is not very exciting but quite satisfying. Props that use the terrain shader like the large stone structures now have their biome material values match the biome they're in. Plus construction objects now clip into their surroundings less when placing them. It's nice.
watching mythbusters, Kari is wearing a jean skirt and neon green striped thigh-highsMe: why is she dressed like a trans girl?
Lucy: Because.. trans girls grew up watching this. Kari is the proto trans girl aesthetic

Teaching the (adult) kids to cook and there's an underlying principle I'm trying to communicate to them:
The modern recipe, as a form, was invented in recent history to serve the needs of industrial, commercial, nationalist forms of cooking.
If you're doing any other kind of cooking — the vast majority of cooking worldwide and throughout history, including most home cooking — you don't want 'em.
What you want is a repertoire of techniques, experience with ingredients, and your active senses.
Made another small #GodotEngine scene!
- Godot 4.0
- @arnklit's cool "Cliffs & Rocks" pack (link in thread)
- 100k particles (animated using a custom particle shader, but this wasn't strictly necessary)
- That lovely volumetric fog <3
- Lots of video compression, sorry :P
Saw an article on how WFH families are having more kids and, yeah, we've rediscovered the age-old principle that having the ability to provide for your family *and* have adults around to parent makes it easier to raise a child.
We shouldn't stop at the nuclear family, though. We should go all the way back to communal hunter-gatherer village living. Adults do their paid remote work in shifts while others tend to the kids, or do domestic work. Way healthier than how most of us live now.
